RAWALPINDI - Hashoo Foundation in partnership with Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) conducted an award ceremony at a local hotel to honor the graduating trainees of its “Skills for Job 2013-14” project, informed spokesman here on Saturday.
The event celebrated the efforts of the high achieving graduates and acknowledged the corporate sector’s role in facilitating their practical training and providing job opportunities. The “Skills for Job 2013-14” project was funded by Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) and it was implemented by Hashoo Foundation. Through this project, Hashoo Foundation aims to provide employable skills to the deserving youth of Southern Punjab to improve their livelihoods.
The Foundation trained these youth within its reputed Hospitality Management Training Program (HMTP). HMTP was an integral part of Hashoo Foundation’s Skills Development Program, it has been designed to equip youth with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a career in both the national and international hospitality industry. The six month training program provides comprehensive theoretical and on the job training within reputed hotels in Pakistan, such as Pearl Continental and Marriott Hotel etc.
The event was graced by notable individuals that included Aqeel Nawaz Khan, Director of Programs, Hashoo Foundation; Ali Akbar Bosan, Chief Operating Officer, Punjab Skills Development Fund; Qazi Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, National Training Bureau; Abid Zaheer, Director of Operations, Western Global Services (Pvt.) Ltd; Col Shehzad Rafique, Director of Human Resources, PC Hotel, Lahore and Hassan Mustafa, General Manager, NOHA Global Group.
Event highlights included inspirational speeches from the trainees whose lives have been transformed by the project. This was followed by entertaining drama and dance performances by the youth.
Aqeel Nawaz Khan, Director of Programs, Hashoo Foundation acknowledged the project team’s dedication, particularly the master trainers’ contribution and the enthusiasm of the trainees:
“There is a great deal of talent among the youth of Southern Punjab, Hashoo Foundation has successfully groomed these talented individuals to become role models within the Hospitality industry.”
He highlighted the fact that Hashoo Foundation has successfully trained approximately 70000 youth to date within certified courses by City & Guilds UK, National Training Bureau Govt. of Pakistan etc. to empower them to improve their quality of life. The event’s chief guest; Ali Akbar Bosan, Chief Operating Officer, Punjab Skills Development Fund, distributed the certificates and shields. He congratulated the graduates and the Hashoo Foundation team on the successful course completion of the first batch of trainees.
Bosan congratulated the graduates who successfully obtained jobs in Hashoo Group Hotels, Western Global Services, NOHA Group (Pvt) Ltd etc.
