Dollar gains against rupee


KARACHI - The dollar witnessed gain against rupee in the interbank market, dealers said Thursday. It began the day’s trading at Rs 89.97 for buying, rose two paisas and closed at Rs 89.99 for buying and Rs 90.04 for selling. The Euro depreciated against local currency as it started the day’s trading at Rs 117.59 for buying, lost Rs 1.33 and closed at Rs 116.26 for buying and Rs 116.46 for selling. The British currency lost strength against the rupee, it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 140.96 for buying, fell Rs 2.15 and closed at Rs 138.81 for buying and Rs 139.01 for selling.
In open market the dollar recorded loss against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 89.9 for buying, lost 15 paisas and closed at Rs 89.75 for buying and Rs 90.3 for selling. The European currency lost strength against the rupee as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 117.2, moved Rs 1.4 down and closed at Rs 115.8 for buying and Rs 117.8 for selling.

The British pound witnessed loss against local currency, it began the day’s trading at Rs 140.5, depreciated Rs 1.7 and closed at Rs 138.8 for buying and Rs 140.8 for selling.
