LAHORE – The spokesman of National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDCL) has said that there are misconceptions regarding the payments schedule of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) which is being published time to time in various sections of press. The spokesman said that the KESC had purchased electricity in 2011-12 from NTDCL and made payments.
The spokesman further said that as per the record available, KESC purchased electricity during the period September 2008 to June 2012 for a total amount of Rs 177 billion out of which it paid Rs 122 billion and a total amount of Rs 54.7 billion remained outstanding. This is in addition to the total mark up of Rs.15.5 billion for delayed payments during the period which makes the total receivables from KESC Rs70.2 billion. It is pertinent to note that no payment was made by KESC in current fiscal year, he added.
