LAHORE - The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has decided to enhance gas curtailment hours for Punjab industry during January. According to source, four days in a week gas loadshedding will be observed in the industrial sector on rotational basis during the next month. The industrial sector was already observing 84 hours (three and half day) in a week gas curtailment. The gas curtailment would be observed according to the agreement and under the National Energy Saving Campaign, a company official said. The gas supply to the industries of Lahore, Sheikhupura and Sahiwal regions will be restored on December 31 which was curtailed on December 27. In the next phase, the gas supply of Faisalabad's industries will be halted on December 31 and it will continue for four days. The gas supple would also remain suspended in factories of Islamabad, Gujranwala, Multan and Bahawalpur region on the same dates. On the other hand, the SNGPL rejected the industrialist's request of two-day in a week gas curtailment to industries saying the restoration to industries according to demand was not possible due to gas shortages. The company stated the domestic consumers were at the SNGPL's priority in gas supply. It was worth to mention here that thousands of the daily wagers of the province have lost their jobs as gas break of industrial units continued in the province.
