Ginners to set up cotton export cell

KARACHI
A ‘Cotton Export Cell’ would be established to facilitate export of cotton from the country, the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has announced. The PCGA Central Executive Committee has decided that the main job of the cell would be to remove obstacles that hinder cotton export from the country. The Executive Committee has constituted a  committee for ‘Cotton Export Cell’ headed by the PCGA chairman .
Rejecting the Pakistan Cotton Standardization Institute (PCSI) proposal for standardizing each cotton bale like the US, the Executive Committee said the Government must create adequate infrastructure to facilitate easy implementation of international standards, prior to accepting such a proposal.
PCGA Executive Committee demanded sufficient fund allocation in the forthcoming 2012-13 Budget for Cotton Ginning, Research & Training Institute. It also urged the Government to immediately announce the cotton policy.
