KARACHI - Denouncing the ill-treatment meted out to PPP leaders Yousuf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Makhdoom Amin Fahim by the centre, Pakistan People’s Party Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has asked the PML-N government to think twice before revisiting the era of political victimisation.
Bilawal said PPP leaders and workers had faced valiantly many tyrant dictators in the past and fabricated and fake cases, jails and courts were not new to them.
“Characters who initiated false cases and references against the PPP leaders in the past apologised later when they relinquished power,” he pointed out and demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to come out openly if he had shunned the policy of reconciliation initiated by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and pursued by the PPP government.
In a press statement issued here, Bilawal Bhutto said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should make it open and public if he had dropped the policy of reconciliation. He said PPP would never end its struggle for restoration of complete democracy and provision of equal rights to people from all walks of life without any discrimination by provinces, parties, ethnicity, cast or creed.
Bilawal also paid rich tributes to former governor Salman Taseer on his birth anniversary stating he had become the voice against inhumane incidents occurring in the society. He said killing of Farzana Bibi was the latest example who was stoned to death in court premises recently. Bilawal said if Salman Taseer would have been alive, he would have continued his struggle to raise voice for the poor and downtrodden segments of the society.
The PPP Patron-in-Chief said people like Salman Taseer were real heroes of Pakistani nation who laid down their lives for the protection of weak segments of the society and did not care about the threats to their life. "We are proud that Shaheed Salman Taseer and other brave leaders like him are the part of Pakistan People’s Party, and its leaders and workers who cared little for their lives but gave sense of security to the toiling and innocent people of the country," he added.
Bilawal said Pakistan and its people were indebted to its heroes like Shaheed Salman Taseer and they would never forget the sacrifices of the PPP leaders and workers to make society egalitarian one and the elements who wanted to impose their nefarious designs on gun-point had no room.
PPP patron-in-chief further said that Shaheed Salman had always been the voice of the poor and downtrodden and his legacy would live on.
