Khwaja Saad flays politics of agitation

LAHORE - Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique once again criticised PTI Chairman Imran Khan for his ‘politics of protests and sit-ins’.
Talking to journalists after inaugurating Faiz Ahmed Faiz Train here on Sunday, the outspoken minister said the PTI has been badly exposed in KP where it got the mandate to govern.
The train (209Up/210Down) had been restored between Lahore and Narowal and it had been named after the great revolutionary poet Late Faiz Ahmed Faiz, who was the resident of Kalakadir, a village near Narowal.
Daughters of the renowned poet, Saleema Hashmi, Muneeza Hashmi, PR General Manager (Operations) Anjum Pervaiz, PRP IG Syed Ibn-e-Hussain and other senior officers were also present on occasion.
It is the first train which has been restored after the closure of several trains during the previous governments’ tenure due to financial crunch. The train will leave for Narowal on daily basis at 6:15 pm and will return next day in the morning. As per some railways officials, the train will facilitate around 1,700 passengers, generating estimated revenue of Rs60 million per year. It is expected the railways would restore some other closed trains especially at Karachi-Sukkar section in the coming days.
Speaking on occasion, Khwaja lashed out at Imran and said the PTI government did nothing in KP expect increasing salaries and other luxuries of the MPAs. “Imran Khan and his party failed to meet the mandate given by the people of KP. The only change they brought in the province is an increase in salaries of the poor MPAs,” he regretted.
However, he just avoided by only saying that it was the people’s choice when asked to comment on the family based politics in country. The minister said that the railways had tried its best to insure maximum security in trains.
To a question, he replied Pakistan Railways had sent a train to India for carrying Sikh Yatrees but New Delhi created problems for them, so they had to come at Wahga on foot.
It is worth mentioning that some 325 Sikh Yatrees arrived in Pakistan on Sunday via Wahga border to observe the martyrdom day of Guru Arjun Dev. Pakistan Railways Police arranged special security for them.
