KARACHI - The 10-party Opposition alliance has finalised consensus candidates on 23 National Assembly constituencies and 51 Provincial Assembly seats against the PPP and MQM in the Sindh province.
Day-long deliberations among Opposition alliance continued at PML-F House here in City on Tuesday with attendance of representatives of allied parties,who finalised consensus candidates on 23 constituencies, less than half of total 139 general seats of Provincial Assembly and 23 of total 61 National Assembly constituencies.
The Opposition alliance demanded the Election Commission to immediately remove the existing Governor of Sindh, replacing with neutral one, besides all the postings of the officers done by the previous government be reshuffled immediately.
Alongwith other leaders, PML-N Sindh President Syed Ghous Ali Shah and PML-F Secretary General Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh after lengthy deliberations while addressing a joint Press conference said that Opposition alliance has finalised the consensus candidates on 23 National Assembly seats and 51 Provincial Assembly seats.
The leaders said that the alliance would resume discussions on Wednesday (today) to finalise the consensus candidates on remaining National Assembly and Provincial Assembly seats against the PPP and MQM.
Sources said that after quitting the PPP by the Shirazis of Thatta, the Opposition alliance has decided to contact and bring them in the fold of Opposition parties.
The leaders of the ten-party electoral alliance attended the meeting include Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provincial President Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Liaquat Jatoi, Irfanullah Marwat, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) leaders Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, Jam Madad Ali, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders Maulana Asadullah and Muhammad Mehanti, JUI-F leader Khalid Mehmood Soomro, National People Party (NPP) leader Masroor Jatoi, Sunni Tehreek (ST) leader Haleem Ghauri, Sindh United Party (SUP) leader Shah Muhammad Shah and Zain Shah, Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) leaders Syed Alam Shah and Qadir Ranto and Sindh Tarqi Passand Party (STPP) leader Haider Shahani and a representative of JUP-Noorani.
PML-N President Ghous Ali Shah while briefingo media about the outcome of day long deliberation said that the Opposition alliance in its meeting decided to contact the Chief Election Commissioner to inform him about the reservations on the Sindh Governor of the province and demanded to remove him immediately as in his presence free and fair elections are not possible.
He also demanded that the posting in the provincial bureaucracy done by the former PPP government in last days must be reshuffled immediately,stating that the PPP Ministers and leaders appointed and posted their relatives on lucrative and important posts, who will affect the election results.
Meanwhile, the Opposition alliance did not reach consensus on all the National Assembly Assembly and Provincial Assembly seats in the province as every party demanded more share of seats.
Even, the Opposition alliance has failed in fielding on important constituencies of Karachi as PML-N, Jamaat-e-Islami and PML-F candidates contesting on NA-250 defence-Clifton seat of Karachi, where PPP and MQM candidates are in the field.
Similarly, the Opposition alliance has not developed consensus to brig joint candidates on Malir and other seats in the City, where aspirants of all the Opposition alliance are in field to contest the elections.
