ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Tuesday directed the capital police and the local administration to completely analyze the data collected during the on-going household survey in Islamabad according to the security point of view of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
He gave these directions while chairing an important meeting of the heads of attached departments of the Ministry of Interior held at the ministry.
The directions came after chairman NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) informed that the household survey in seven out 21 sectors of Islamabad has been completed with the help of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police. The NADRA chief said that registration in rest of sectors would be completed by the end of November.
The minister directed to simultaneously analyze the data collected in this registration process according to the security point of view and added that the data collected from the sub-urban areas must be properly analyzed and the periphery of Islamabad be properly secured.
Acting Chairman NADRA Imtiaz Tajwar also informed that construction work on safe city project was continuing. He said that sites for installing cameras have been finalized in consultation with police. He expressed his confidence that the project would be completed in its timeframe and Islamabad would soon become the first city of Pakistan, which had been secured through latest technology.
Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said during the meeting that he was committed to ensure the culture of honesty and hard work in all attached departments of the ministry, says an official statement issued by the ministry Tuesday.
The minister exhorted all officials to commit themselves to equal application of law and uphold highest standards in their decision making at all levels.
Nisar gave certain directives for improving administrative working of the attached departments. He directed the officers to strictly follow the rules of business while interacting with other ministries and foreigners.
The minister took strong notice of recent incidents of human smuggling at Islamabad Airport and said that strict action would be taken against those officials who would prove inefficient or unwilling to stop these illegal activities.
The meeting also discussed various measures to check and deter such activities of illegal immigration in future that bring a bad name to the country. The minister emphasized that incompetence, dishonesty and lack of commitment will not be tolerated in any government department.
The chair directed the ICT Administration and police to take foolproof security measures in last days of Ramzan and especially on the eve of Eid ul Fitr.
He asked the IGP to form a committee consisting of police and civilian officers to check police pickets and directed to improve the security checking of check-posts especially on sensitive roads like Margalla Road, Murree Road, Kashmir Highway and in Red Zone area.
The IGP ICT informed the participants that a pro-active approach was being followed regarding the security of Islamabad. He added that rigorous search operations were being conducted on weekly basis to check unlawful elements especially in suburbs of the capital.
The minister directed the officers to rise to the occasion and work beyond the call of their duty and keep delivering progress in terms of strict deadlines in view.
Secretary Interior, Director General (DG) FIA, Acting Chairman NADRA, Secretary Narcotics, IGP ICT, Chief Commissioner ICT, National Coordinator NACTA, DG Immigration and Passports, DG Civil Defense, DG National Police Bureau and DG National Police Foundation attended the meeting.
