SC asks IGP to probe Kamran Faisal’s murder

ISLAMABAD - Justice Jawwad S Khawaja has remarked that according to forensic report National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation officer Kamran Faisal did not commit suicide but he was murdered and the court will review this murder incident in the light of Rental Power Plants (RPPs) case.
The Supreme Court while issuing notice to IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat ordered him to constitute a joint team to probe into Kamran Faisal murder case in the light of forensic report and submit report in the curt within a week. This order was issued by a three-member SC bench led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday.
Aftab Bajwa, counsel for family of Kamran Faisal, told the court that as per forensic report Kamran had not committed suicide and he had been killed, adding former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and former chairman NAB are involved in his murder. Orders for initiation of action against these two should be issued, he prayed.
During the course of hearing of the case Deputy Attorney General (DAG) said if someone had any evidence in respect of this case then he should hand over it to police.
Justice Jawwad S Khawaja remarked, “As per forensic report Kamran did not commit suicide and he was killed. First of all police showed this case as suicide case and then expressed its suspicion over it. The situation is such that case should be reviewed in the light of the report. Therefore, court is issuing notice to IGP Islamabad to review this matter in the light of forensic laboratory report and present reply in the court within a week.”
