ISLAMABAD - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Monday strongly demanded that operation in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) should be stopped immediately, as this attack is badly harming residents of the area and not the terrorists.
“In recent attacks all 65 persons died were civilians who had no links with terrorists,” Maulana challenged those who are in favour of operation, adding that essential items of daily use are not available due to curfew imposed around a week before.
It is relevant to mention here that following a militant attack some days back in Miranshah on a military convoy, which had claimed lives of at least five security personnel and injured many others, the forces had reportedly imposed a curfew in the area and launched a search operation. Civilians in Miranshah had also claimed deaths of some civilians including two women.
Talking to media persons, the JUI-F Chief said that Mir Ali Bazaar and mosques had been damaged and even bodies were lying there. He said that villagers near the hinterland of Miranshah are seized with panic due to firing incidents.
“Due to military operation even injured persons have no proper medical treatment,” he said posing a question how attack could be possible in curfew. Fazl said that this operation would resultantly destroy the peace in the area.
To a question about his recent visit to India, the JUI-F chief said that he in a meeting with Indian Prime Minister raised the issue of Kashmir and discussed Pakistan’s stance with him.
About tragic incident in Rawalpindi on Ashura day, he said that it was conspiracy to create sectarian clashes in the country. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should take practical steps to control any chance of sectarian clashes in the country. He further said that it was responsibility of the government to maintain law and order in the country.
To a question, the JUI-F chief came down hard on KPK govt, saying that the government in province is not delivering. He also criticised ‘sit-in’ of PTI with reference to price hike.
