Ogra multi-billion scam: NAB to present progress report to SC today

ISLAMABAD - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would present progress report to the Supreme Court today (Wednesday) regarding interrogation and investigation of Tauqir Sadiq, former chairman OGRA and principal accused of multi-billion rupee scam, sources said.
The apex court directed the NAB authorities on 10th July to present a comprehensive progress report regarding the interrogation of OGRA scam and fix the responsibility to the persons who helped the escape of Tauqir Sadiq from Pakistan, the sources added.
During interrogation Tauqir disclosed his links with two KPK former ministers who helped him in his escape from Pakistan. The accused also disclosed that immigration authorities checked his travelling documents on Torkham Border but they did not emboss exit stamp on his green passport, the sources added.
The accused said during investigation that he fled Afghanistan via road on a car hired from Torkham Border and stayed in Kabul for four to five days where a person named Abdul Samad managed his boarding and lodging and he also arranged ticket and travelling documents for the accused to fly for Dubai, the sources added.
Earlier, the accountability court has accepted the NAB application regarding the direction to the Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab to make ensure the arrest of former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and the Accountability Court has said that the judgement on the application would be passed after examining the legal and constitutional prospects of the application, the sources added.
