QUETTA - The 7th death anniversary of veteran Baloch nationalist leader and former Chief Minister and Governor Balochistan Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti will be observed throughout Balochistan, on Monday (today).
Jamhoori Watan Party and Baloch Republican Party have announced a complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strike across the province.
The strike call has been supported by Baloch National Front, Balochistan National Party, National Party and Balochistan trader organisations.
Political parties will hold seminars, take out rallies and stage demos in various parts of the province to pay tributes to Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti for his sacrifices for Balochistan.
Strict security arrangements have been made in the provincial capital and other parts of Balochistan to avert any untoward incident as police backed by Frontier Corps Balochistan, Balochistan Constabulary, Levies Force and other law- enforcement agencies would be deployed to all sensitive areas.
Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti alongwith his companions was killed during a military action in the mountains of Kohlu district on August 26, 2006.
NASIRABAD DPO INJURED IN ATTACK: District Police Officer (DPO) Nasirabad reportedly sustained injuries in an armed attack late Sunday night. Sources said that DPO Alaudin Kasi was attacked in Nothal area when he was on his way. Resultantly, he sustained injuries in the attack.
Sources said that the firing between police personnel and armed men continued for some time. However, it could not be ascertained immediately how many attackers were injured or killed in the incident. No group claimed responsibility for the attack till filing of this report.
