ISLAMABAD - Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Tariq Malik is preparing a ‘rejoinder’ in response to the show cause notice issued to him by the Ministry of Interior that will be submitted soon, The Nation has learnt.
Sources close to the chairman NADRA informed on Wednesday that Tariq Malik was preparing para-wise answers to the show cause notice of the Ministry of Interior in which he had vehemently and categorically denied all the charges levelled against him in the notice.
Recently, the Interior Ministry had issued a four-page show cause notice to Tariq Malik levelling charges of financial corruption and misuse of official powers against him.
The well-placed sources in NADRA informed that Tariq Malik had rejected all the allegations levelled against him what he personally though that the accusations were unfounded, misinformed as well as misguided and he would soon submit his reply in the Ministry of Interior with documentary proof and details.
The ministry, in the notice, had asked chairman NADRA about his frequent interactions with the media without prior permission from the ministry, about the details of his foreign qualification and of his all foreign visits made in his capacity as chairman and deputy chairman NADRA.
The letter sought from Tariq Malik about the exact number of passports he held and the details of his monthly salary he had been withdrawing form authority’s accounts. He was also asked about the procurement of smart cards from a foreign firm in bulk number despite the fact that authority had an inventory of more than one and a half year in stock.
