RAHIM YAR KHAN - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday announced the establishment of a new university and a cadet college in Rahim Yar Khan, saying that work on the university project will start soon.
The Punjab CM made the announcement while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of Nishaan-e-Haider Kabadi tournament here in Sadiqabad, some 35-km from here.
Shahbaz Sharif arrived in the morning to distribute prizes among the teams of Nishaan-e-Haider Kabadi tournament arranged by Pakistan Army at Jinnah Municipal Stadium. The chief minister declared that work on university would start soon while the project of Cadet College would be completed in one and half years. On the occasion, he stressed that sports not only help enhanced sportsman spirit but such activities also create an atmosphere of mutual solidarity.
He pledged that the Punjab government would support financially and administratively not only Kabadi but all types of sports, adding that ample funds would be provided for development Jinnah Municipal Stadium. Earlier players of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force Kabadi teams were introduced to the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Pakistan Air Force won the final match. On the arrival of CM in the stadium folk artists presented regional Jhoomer, camel dance and Army band. Karachi Corps Commander Lt-Gen Sajjad Ghani was also present on the occasion.
