ISLAMABAD - While the government and protesting parties are still engaged in negotiations, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari telephoned JI chief Sirajul Haq to discuss political impasse in the country. Zardari in his telephonic contact talked about the ongoing political situation, especially after the meditation role played by Pakistan Army.
The PPP co-chairman in his second telephonic contact within two days asked the JI chief to continue efforts to find some political solution to the issue, said the PPP sources. They quoted Zardari saying that ultimately the issues would have to be resolved by the political parties themselves. Both PPP and JI decided to expedite consultative process to diffuse the prevailing political crisis.
Sources said that some of senior PPP members are still suggesting the party leadership to stop supporting the incumbent government in current political crisis and only extend verbal support. "The PPP senior leaders are suggesting to the leadership to take advantage of this critical situation and focus on Punjab where party has lost its position in general elections 2013," they said.
