PML-N files complaint with ECP about conduct of addl chief secy

lahore - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of Pakistan about the conduct of Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Rao Iftikhar Ahmed in run-up to general elections.
In a letter addressed to the commission, N-League leader Senator Ishaq Dar stated it had been reported in the media that the additional chief secretary had tasked all divisional commissioners to come up with projected election results.
“It is alleged in the news item that Mr Rao is transgressing his mandate by engaging in activities which may compromise the transparency/governance during polls. The message has been delivered telephonically and also via text messaging.”
The senator further said this communication had created confusion and perception in the ranks of civil servants that the caretaker regime might be planning pre-fixed results.
“Subject to the accuracy of the said news item, we strongly condemn this act of the said officer and request the election commission to take immediate action by withdrawing his service from Punjab in public interest as well as for conduct of free and fair elections on May 11,” Dar added in the letter.
