Three injured in PTI, PML-N workers clash

As many as 3 people were injured when clashes broke out between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers outside a polling station in Dhoke Mangtal here on Saturday.
Some eyewitnesses told The Nation that the enraged political workers also resorted to aerial firing.
However, the overall law and order situation in Rawalpindi district remained peaceful during polling in connection with general elections 2013. Pakistan Army and Rangers assisted police and Eliot Force to keep law and order situation control. According to Police Station (PS) Ratta Amral officials, the staff of Elections Commission of Pakistan was counting the votes in a polling station Watan Textile Mills, Dhoke Mangtal Railway Lines when some political workers of PTI arrived there on motorcycles and chanted slogans against PML-N.
On this the supporters of N League got angry and a clash broke out in which both the parties pelted each other with stones injuring three workers of PTI. The three injured were Wasim Haider, Muhammad Bilal and Khuram Shehzad. The victims filed an application against their rivals while police sent the injured to a nearby hospital for medico-legal report, informed SI Atif, the investigation officer.
Reportedly, a man was also injured during firing occurred at Mareer Chowk, within the limits of Police Station (PS) Civil Line. Nonetheless, police stated that this was not election related incident rather the result of old enmity. “A couple of months ago a man namely Ashraf was murdered in Mareer Chowk on petty issue. Today, Ashraf’s son was injured in firing opened by his rivals” a police officer told when contacted.
6 hurt in Lakki polls violence
Staff Reporter adds: Polling for the sole national and three provincial assembly seats of the district ended amidst reports of firing incidents wherein six people were reportedly wounded.
The overall polling process was peaceful and well organised as long queues of voters were seen on all polling stations of the urban and rural localities.
According to reports, six persons, including four minors, were injured in separate firing incidents at Baistkhel and Naserkhel polling stations.
The injured were shifted to a hospital in Naurang town. Polling was also stopped at some polling stations after scuffle among supports and polling agents of rival candidates. 
While talking to reporters JUI-F candidate for PK-74, Anwar Hayat Khan alleged that polling agents of his rival candidate Anwar Saifullah Khan were involved in disturbing the polling process.
The polling agents of rival candidate intentionally hinder the polling process to stop his supporters from casting their votes,” he maintained.
Similar accusations were made by ANP former female lawmaker Yasmeen Zia. At a female polling station in Mammakhel village, she alleged that the ANP voters faced problems at the hands of polling staff and supporters of rival candidates.
A high turn out is expected in the election on NA-27 (Lakki Marwat) and PK-74 (Lakki Marwat-I), PK-75 (Lakki Marwat-II) and PK-76 (Lakki Marwat-III).
