Mardan - The Mardan city expected to witness as a tough contest for NA-9 Nardan where several heavyweights including former chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Shazia Aurangzeb of PPP, Nawabzada Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti of PML-N and Maulana Shujaul Mulak of JUI-F are flexing their political muscles to security victory.
Since PPP has won this seat several times in the past, it was considered PPP seat, however, ANP also ahs won this seat once. In the 2008 election, total registered voters were 262042 including 103591 females and 158451 males and the Election Commission Mardan established 213 poling stations including 62 for male, 50 for female and 101 combined. Now the total registered voters in this constituency are 336177 including.
According to the 2002 elections, the MMA candidate Maulana Shujaul Mulak hadwon this seat and gained 54479 votes in the 2008 election ANP candidate Khwaja Hoti won this seat and gained 31075 votes, PPP candidate Khanzada Khan gained 24217 votes and JUI-F candidate Maulana Shujaul Mulak gained 10625 votes.
Later, in the 2012 by-elections ANP candidate Himayatullah Mayar won this seat and gained 30770 votes while candidate of JUI-F Maulana Shujaul Mulak who was supported by PTI, PML-N and other parties gained 24621 votes Majority of rural areas are included in NA-9 constituency. Top competition is also expected among ANP, PPP, JUI-F and PML-N on provincial constituencies included in NA-9 Mardan 1. Provincial constituencies of PK 23, 24 and 25 are included in this national assembly constituency.
On PK 23 tough competition is expected among former chief minister Ameer Haider Hoti, PML-N candidate Umar Farooqe Khan, PPP’s Khan Khawas Khan, JUI-S’s Ikramullah Shahid and Mufti Amjad Khan of JUI-F. In the 2002 election Ikramullah Shahid won this seat and gained 10649 on MMA ticket. in the 2008 elections Ameer Haider Hoti won this seat and gained 1109 votes, PPP candidate Arshid Ahmed Khan gained 6659 votes who has recently joined ANP and supporting Haider Hoti, Ikramullah Shahid contest as independent candidate and gained 4309 votes, JUI-F candidate gained 1274 votes and PML-N candidate gained 1115 votes. In 2013 election Ameer Haider Khan Hoti will face a tough competition on this seat.
On PK 24 tough competition is expected among JUI-F candidate Maulana Amanat Shah, PPP’s Abdus Samad Khan Toru, ANP’s Ali Khan and PML-N’s Nawabzada Arsala Khan. In the 2002 elections, MMA candidate Maulana Amant Shah had won this seat and gained 16077 votes and in 2008 elections ANP candidate Ahmed Khan Bahadur had won this seat and gained 11806, PPP candidate Muzam Khan had gained 8805 votes while Maulana Amant Shah gained 7118 while PML-N candidate gained 629 votes.
In 2013 elections, the ANP had dropped Haji Ahmed Khan Bahadur and allotted its ticket to Ali Khan, the son of former federal minister Haji Yaqoob Khan who has recently joined the party due to which ANP is facing a lot of problems on this constituency.
On PK-25, a tough competition is also expected among ANP candidate Ghani Dad Khan, PML-N Bakhtawar Khan, the nephew of Ghani Dad Khan, PTI Obaid Khan Mayar and JUI-F Maulana Israrul Haq. In the 2002 elections, the MMA candidate Maulana Israrul Haq had won this seat and gained 13154 votes. In 2008 Ghani Dad Khan had won this seat and gained 9692 votes, PPP candidate gained 7035 votes, JUI-F candidate Maulana Israrul Haq gained 7717 votes and PML-N candidate gained 1463 votes.
In the 2013 elections, the ANP candidate Ghani Dad Khan will face a tough competition for the seat. According to the results of 2008 elections, the ANP had gained 32609 votes, PPP gained 24217 votes, JUI-F gained 16107 votes, PML-N gained 3206 votes.
After the joining of Nawab family in PML-N especially Nawabzada Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti and Nawabzada Arsala Khan PML-N got strengthened in this constituency because this family has a lot of supporters and due to this reason PML-N joined the race for NA-9 Mardan 1.
