Renowned Pakistani Singer, Adnan Sami, on Tuesday received formal notice from Mumbai Police ordering him to leave India after expiring of his visa.
Adnan Sami, a Pakistani origin singer who is residing in India since year longtime, is finding himself embroiled in another trouble just after being dragged into court by his ex-wife Sabah Galadari.
Famous musician and singer Adnan Sami has received legal notice from the Indian law enforcement agency which directed him to leave the country as his visa limit is over.
Sami was also asked to report local police station before leaving the country.
Sami had clarified before the local media that he possessed a Pakistani passport and was residing in India on the basis of a visa granted to him from time to time.
He also said his visa was valid from September 26, 2012, till October 6, 2013.
Earlier, Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNCKS), the affiliated group of MNS, had asked Sami for leaving India immediately as the singer is staying illegally and his visa duration is completed.
MNCKS president Amey Khopkar requested the authorities for not granting him any extension on visa. He added, “We told Sami that our priority would be our artistes”, media reports said.
The discussion on Sami’s visa was raised during an ongoing court case between Adnan Sami and his ex-wife Sabah Galadari, after Galadari’s lawyer raised the issue of the Pakistani singer’s illegal stay in India.
Sami and Galadhari are in court over the possession of a duplex flat in Lokhandwala Complex, where the singer currently stays with his third wife.
Usha Tanna, Sami’s lawyer, said, “The application for extension of visa is a normal process and he has been doing it for the last 20 years. These issues are being raised for the sake of publicity.
The case in the family court is limited to a few issues and the visa issue is outside the ambit of the family court.”
