Idris Elba is in talks to star in Guy Ritchie’s medieval drama, Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur.
The Luther star is tipped to play Bedivere, Arthur’s father’s right-hand man, who will teach his son how to lead an army. The film, which has been written by Joby Harold, is Warner Bros’ new take on the English myth. It will tell the story of King Arthur and his knights of the kingdom of Camelot, said the Hollywood Reporter.
If he signs on, the movie would mark a reunion for Idris and Guy following their collaboration on crime thriller Rocknrolla in 2008. The role of Arthur has not yet been cast although auditions will begin in August.  Idris, who reprised his role as DCI John Luther in the third series of the BBC crime drama and played the late South African leader Nelson Mandela in biopic Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, will voice Shere Khan in Disney’s The Jungle Book, currently in pre-production. The actor and DJ is also attached to star in the thrillers Bastille Day, No Good Deed and The Gunman, as well as Cary Fukunaga’s war drama Beasts Of No Nation.
