Bowie bassist Bolder dies

LONDON: Trevor Bolder, the bass guitarist in David Bowie’s Spiders From Mars band, died Wednesday at the age of 62 following a battle with cancer. He joined the British rock star’s backing group in 1971, appearing on classic albums including “Hunky Dory” and “Aladdin Sane”. “Trevor was a wonderful musician and a major inspiration for whichever band he was working with. But he was foremostly a tremendous guy, a great man,” Bowie said. Bolder went on to join Uriah Heep in 1976 and only stopped playing with the hard rock band a few months ago due to his health.–AFP
