Brad Pitt says Killing Them Softly has message

BRAD Pitt has insisted that his new gangster film Killing Them Softly carries an important message about the world economy.Pitt stars in director Andrew Dominik’s film as a hitman tasked with investigating a heist at a high-stakes mafia poker game. The actor has now explained that Killing Them Softly uses the gangster movie genre to reflect on real-life economic disparity taking place across the globe.“We were certainly at the apex of the mortgage loans debacle, people were losing homes right and left [when I read the script]. It was at the forefront of the newspapers, as the economy still is,” Pitt said, reports Flicks and Bits.He went on to say: “This commentary and the way it’s done in this film where you believe you’re watching a gangster film, or I felt like I was reading a gangster film, and then it wasn’t until the end when it coalesced for me as far as maybe what direction the film is pointing to overall. That this microcosm actually was saying something about the greater, the macro world.”–DS
