‘Divorce Hotel’ ends marriages in luxury

A “Divorce Hotel” in the Netherlands is offering unhappy couples the opportunity to end their marriages in luxury accommodations.
Jim Halfens, founder of the Divorce Hotel, said couples can check into one of six hotels in the country affiliated with his business and they will be provided during their weekend stay with everything they need to end their marriages, ABC News reported Tuesday.
“They arrive on Friday and we give them everything they need to leave Sunday with their divorce papers,” Halfens said. “Divorces can cost a lot of money and a lot of time. Here, it’s done in three days.
“We have everything they need: lawyers, mediators, psychologists,” Halfens said. “The marriage failed, and that’s negative. But it’s also a new start, and that’s positive. The only thing we can do is offer a better solution than fighting for years.”
Halfens said he plans to bring his scheme to the United States, where half of marriages end in divorce, and he is looking into the possibility of a reality TV series. “It’s time to show people this is possible,” he said. “And obviously it would be a great television show.”                           –UPI
