An Azerbaijani Su-25 fighter jet crashed during a training exercise in the west of the ex-Soviet republic on Wednesday, killing its pilot, the defence ministry said. The accident occurred at about 5:00 pm local time (1800 PST) during a training flight over the Shamkir region near Azerbaijan's border with Georgia, the ministry said in a statement. Azerbaijan's Dollyar military airbase is located in the region. The ministry and military prosecutors are investigating the accident, the statement said.
