French President Nicolas Sarkozy Saturday arrived at the southern Indian city of Bangalore for a four-day visit to India, along with his wife Carla Bruni, during which the two countries are expected to ink a mega nuclear deal, official sources said.
The French President will visit the Indian Space Research Organization's satellite centre in Bangalore later in the day. A trip to the Taj Mahal in the northern city of Agra has been organized for the French First Couple on Sunday, said the sources.
On Monday, Sarkozy will have delegation-level talks and a working lunch with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the national capital.
During Sarkozy's meeting with Prime Minister Singh, the two countries are expected to sign a mega deal for French nuclear reactors in India. Last minute negotiations are also on to make a big announcement, like pending defence deals, during the visit.
On Tuesday, the French President will go to India's financial capital Mumbai. Sarkozy will visit the Mumbai terror attacks police memorial in the city. He will also give French bravery awards to the staff of the Taj and Oberoi hotels for saving lives of a number of French nationals during the massacre.
A number of French nationals were hotel guests during the Mumbai terror attacks on Nov. 26, 2008.
In 2008, the French President had visited the country when he was invited as the chief guest for India's Republic Day celebrations.
