Prosecutors demand death penalty for Kasab

Indian prosecutors demanded the death penalty for the Ajmal Kasab found guilty of murder and waging war during the attacks on Mumbai in 2008, an assault that fractured relations between the neighbors. The court will announce the sentence tomorrow as the prosecutors completed arguments today. It will be a mockery of justice if the death penalty is not imposed considering the heinous crime committed, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told the Judge M.L. Tahaliyani inside a high-security city jail during sentencing arguments. If we overlook the maximum penalty, we will continue to be a soft target for militants, Nikam said.
