No security alert issued for PTI peace march: Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the Pakistan neither Tehreek-e-Insaf has been barred from taking out Peace March nor any security alerts has been issued in this regard.
Malik who is in US on a visit told media on Saturday, he said that the Pakistan People’s Party represented the people’s sentiments and he had raised the issue of drone attacks with Americans during his visit.
Earlier, talking to media representatives at Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington, the Interior Minister said that he had conveyed the sentiments of Pakistani people regarding Dr. Aafia to the US officials.
“I held talks with FBI director Robert Mueller and sent an application to US attorney general to review the matter on humanitarian grounds as her ailing mother and two small children were waiting for her.”
Pakistan and the United States have decided to take joint steps to counter the threat posed by improvised explosive devices to the civilians and law enforcement and military personnel.
The understanding came during a meeting of Pakistan-US Law Enforcement and Counterterrorism working group co-chaired by Interior Minister Rehman Malik and the US Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs William Brownfield in Washington.
The working group discussed means to disrupt the illicit networks that supply the components and financing for improvised explosive devices in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The US delegation reiterated the danger these devices pose to Pakistan as well as Afghan‚ US‚ and coalition forces working to establish stability and security in Afghanistan.
The US delegation noted the steps taken by the Government of Pakistan to combat IEDs. Both sides recommitted to pursuing practical solutions for improving joint efforts to combat IEDs and work with the Government of Afghanistan to improve security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Both the sides agreed to take specific steps to strengthen coordination and communication‚ improve enforcement of existing laws on the transport and storage of IED precursors‚ increase public awareness of the threat posed by IED networks and facilitators sand disrupt financial flows that support these networks.
