A suicide car bomb hit Maidan Shahr, the capital of Afghanistan's Wardak Province, leaving several people dead and injured on Sunday, a local official said.
"A terrorist driving an explosive-laden car and blew it up next to a military base, killing and injuring several people around," the official told Xinhua but declined to be identified, saying authorized officials would brief the media after investigation.
Meanwhile, police spokesman in Maidan Shahr, Abdul Wali Nurzai in talks with Xinhua confirmed that four passersby and a police constable were injured in the blast.
He also said that the suicide bomber was killed in his blast. On the other hand, Ghulam Farooq Wardak, director of public health in Wardak, said several injured people had been taken to hospital in Maidan Shahr for medical treatment.
