Earthquake jolts southwest China

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale on Wednesday jolted the Qingchuan County in China's southwestern Sichuan province, the National Seismic Network reported. The quake occurred at 2.53 a.m. Wednesday. The epicentre of the earthquake was located around 15 km below the earth's surface, China Earthquake Administration said on its website. There were no immediate reports of casualties, it said. The Qingchuan County has a population of 250,000, and is situated in the north of Sichuan Province. Earlier on May 12, thousands of people were killed in a devastating quake in the province.
