NATO chief condemns Kabul suicide attack

NATO's secretary general condemned Tuesday's suicide attack in Kabul, which killed at least 18 people including six international soldiers. "I strongly condemn the suicide attack today in Kabul, which has led to the death of Afghan civilians and ISAF soldiers, and injuries to many more Afghans," NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a statement following the attack near a NATO convoy. "NATO remains committed to its mission to protect the Afghan people and to strengthen Afghanistan's ability to resist terrorism," he stressed, offering his condolences to families of the victims. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) is a NATO-led security mission in Afghanistan. Six international service members were killed and several wounded when a suicide vehicle-born improvised explosive device exploded near the ISAF convoy and civilian vehicles, ISAF said in a statement.
