RAW fails to prevent foreign intel agencies penetration

NEW DELHI (Agencies)- A former Indian spy chief said Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) has failed to prevent penetration of foreign agencies into India. Anand K Verma, former chief of RAW of the Cabinet Secretariat, said even a prime minister was under the cloud of suspicion. He did not specify his name. The shame lies in the fact that it (counter intelligence) could not prevent foreign penetration even into their senior ranks, he said in an article to be published in the forthcoming issue of 'Indian Defence Review. There was a general belief in India that the influence of foreign intelligence organisations had penetrated deep into civil society. He described performance of RAW as a mixed bag of successes and shame. He said technological gadgets used to get highly accurate intelligence was very expensive.
