MCC wants Cowdrey Lectures by players from all

JAIPUR The MCC will invite players from all over the world at Lords to give Cowdrey Lectures on Spirit of Cricket. Abi Carter, the media official, revealed this. Speaking from London, she said, The MCC is keen to have Cowdrey Lecturers from all the Test-playing countries: Imran will be the first Pakistani to deliver the Lecture (in July). Interestingly, Indias legendary little master Sunil Gavaskar is the other Asian, who delivered it in the year 2003. It has been delivered by eminent figures from across the world - Richie Benaud, Clive Llyod, Geoff Boycott, Martin Crowe, Adam Gilchrist. The MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture was inaugurated in 2001 in memory of the late Lord Cowdrey of Tonbridge, a past President of MCC, who - together with Ted Dexter - was instrumental in the Spirit of Cricket being included as the Preamble to the 2000 Code of the Laws of Cricket. Imran Khans name was put forward by the MCC president.
