Germany plans to increase troops in Afghanistan

Germany said it plans to increase the number of its troops in Afghanistan by 1000 this fall, senior defence officials said Tuesday. The proposed increase would bring the total German commitment to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, to 4,500, Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung and military chief Wolfgang Schneiderhan said. He said objective to increase number of German troops' is to strengthen the force of International Security Assistant Force.
