UNITED NATIONS - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned the bombing of a mosque in Jamrud that killed more than 50 people on Friday. During a meeting with Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Moscow, the Secretary-General said he was horrified by the attack, and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, his spokesperson Michele Montas said in New York. Ms. Montas also told the regular noon briefing that the secretary-general noted that Pakistan has a crucial role to play in the Afghan peace process. A military solution is not enough in Afghanistan; a political and economic surge, and a comprehensive approach were needed, he said. Ban also thanked Pakistan for its contribution to UN peacekeeping.
