ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Wednesday offered training support to Uzbekistan in terms of the gratis training courses at the training institutions of Pakistan Armed Force. The offer was made by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Tariq Majid while talking Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov Imomovich who called on him at his office. They exchanged views on the regional security situation and its impact on Uzbekistan and Pakistan, bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries and other subjects of the mutual interest. The CJCSC while thanking the dignitary for support rendered by Uzbekistan for Pakistans bid to obtain full membership of the SCO, expressed that Pakistan and Uzbekistan had common roots, shared history, cultural affinity and bondage of the faith. Both the countries also share the common objectives of combating the threats of terrorism and violent extremism, bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan and overcoming the issues of narcotics and human smuggling that spread over and affecting the entire region. Highlighting the role of neighbours to help stabilise Afghanistan, General Tariq stressed on the need for both the countries to have greater engagements, devise coordinated policies and strategies and joint responses to deal with such challenges. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistans comprehensive efforts and commitment to contain and eradicate terrorism and violent extremism. He also expressed the desire to transform the existing ties into multidimensional and mutually beneficial relationship.
