Pakistan’s role in US-Taliban reconciliation discussed in Kerry-Sartaj meeting

The US Secretary of State John Kerry Thursday held a one-on-one meeting with Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and discussed with him important issues relating to strengthening bilateral relations.
The US diplomat, who arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday night on a three-day visit, during his meeting with Sartaj Aziz at the Foreign Ministry exchanged views over Pak-Afghan relations and Islamabad’s assistance in US talks with Taliban at Doha.
The one-on-one meeting was later followed by delegation-level talks featuring US cooperation in Pakistan energy and economic sector. US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson was also present on the occasion.
US Secretary of State John Kerry during his visit to Pakistan will reinforce Washington's continuing commitment to Pakistan.
According to a statement released by State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki in Washington‚ Kerry is in Pakistan "for consultations with the newly elected civilian government and to reinforce the United States' continuing commitment to the Pakistani people."
