Restaurants ‘serving’ low quality food

ISLAMABAD – Contrary to the cliams of the Capital Development Authority to check food quality and over charging, most of hotels and restaurants in Abpara Market as elsewhere in the country continue to serve sub standard and unhygienic food. The sub-standard and unhygienic food is causing serious digestion diseases among the hoteliers who had to feed themselves at these low priced places.
Customers have complained that these hotels and cafe owners are fleecing the masses unchecked and no system to monitor the quality and prices could apparently be seen.
Waqas Akram a visitor at Abpara market told APP, there are many hotels and restaurants with hygienic atmosphere for eating but the rates of their food items is beyond the purchasing capacity of the common man. Poor people have no other alternative but to eat food items in the street side hotels and restaurants, he said.
These owners are not only depriving the customers from their hard earned money but also exposing them to health hazards. Therefore, customers have demanded of the authorities concerned to take action against the violators.
An official of the Health Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA), when contacted said that the authorities check the prices on regular basis and also take strict action in case of any malpractice. He further added that special teams would monitor the sale points and would fine those who sell food and beverages in unhygienic conditions.
