Supreme Court has declared the appointments of Chairman and Prosecutor General of NAB as unlawful and directed the government for new appointments. The court during hearing of the petitions challenging the 18th Amendment Wednesday observed that the tenure of the office can not be extended neither an Acting Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau can be appointed. Earlier, Justice Javed Iqbal in his remarks said that the new mechanism of judges appointment has been incomplete. Justice Jawad S. Khawaja observed that the new appointment mechanism can create crisis and it doesnt belong to the Charter of Democracy. Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that the government has been told repeatedly to resolve the additional judges issue.
