ISLAMABAD - Former president Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday night rang up Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed with him the overall political situation in the country in the backdrop of the special court indictment of former army general Pervez Musharraf.
Officials in the PM House confirmed the telephonic contact between the two but did not give any further details.
PPP Central Information Secretary Senator Farhatullah Babar also confirmed the contact and said that overall political situation of the country figured in the conversation between the two and obviously the developments in the high treason case also came under discussion.
Sources in PPP confirmed that former Zardari had assured his party’s all-out support to the government in taking the Musharraf trial to a logical end.
It also learnt that the threats coming from a militant organisation to Bilawal Bhutto also figured in the conversation and Premier Sharif has assured Zardari of all-out support and assistance on part of federal as well as Punjab governments for provision of foolproof security to Bilawal.
The PM also assured a formal inquiry into the threats to Bilawal.
