ISLAMABAAD - Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi has constituted two divisions and four single benches to hear some 200 cases during the next week starting today.
The first Division Bench (DB) comprises Chief Justice Anwar Kasi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui while Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan and Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi are part of the second bench.
Four single benches are consisted of Chief Justice Anwar Kasi, Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan, Justice Noor-ul-Haq Qureshi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.
During the coming week, a bench of IHC will also take up the five Intra Court Appeals (ICAs) moved by Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), former chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Lahore Cricket Club and Major (R) Ahmad Nadeem Saddal regarding the affairs of PCB.
During the last hearing, the bench comprising Justice Riaz Ahmad and Justice Noor-ul-Haq Qureshi had passed the order of status quo till the final disposal in the pending Intra Court Appeals (ICAs) filed against the verdict of a single bench of IHC dated July 04 about the affairs of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The bench had also directed that chairman PCB Najam Sethi and the interim management committee (IMC) would keep on taking care of the matters.
On the last hearing, the bench had clarified that there would be no election for the chairman PCB till final disposal in this case. The bench however did not pass any order with clear directions regarding the status quo by saying that they would not issue an order, and would only issue after complete hearings from all sides.
The bench had also restrained PCB from releasing money to election commissioner Justice (R) Munir A Sheikh appointed by the single bench.
It is pertinent to mention here that it was on October 29 when Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC had restrained Najam Aziz Sethi and members of the IMC to perform any function of the affairs of PCB.
The same IHC bench had also appointed Justice (R) Munir A Sheikh of the Supreme Court of Pakistan as election commission to hold PCB elections by third week of November last.
Islamabad police nab 147 absconders in November: Islamabad capital territory police on Sunday announced to get hold of 147 absconders involved in crimes of heinous nature during the last month in its special crackdown against outlaws.
According to a briefing given to media persons, all absconders were arrested during November in a special crackdown against outlaws on instructions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Sikandar Hayat. Officials told media men on Sunday that the IGP had assigned task to all police officials to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders and inform his office on the daily basis about success in this special crackdown. He also directed all SDPOs and SHOs to launch massive crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders.
Complying with his directions, a total of 147 absconders including 66 proclaimed offenders and 81 court absconders have been apprehended during the last month.
According to data, City Zone arrested 24 proclaimed offenders, 21 court absconders while Saddar Zone apprehended 25 proclaimed offenders, 29 court absconders. Similarly, Industrial Area Zone nabbed 07 proclaimed offenders, 10 court absconders while Rural Zone nabbed 11 proclaimed offenders, and 20 court absconders nabbed during this period.
Meanwhile, during the same period, Islamabad Police have arrested 27 culprits involved in crime of dacoity, murder, robbery, and car theft and recovered stolen items worth Rs 3,555,500 from their possession.
IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat has issued directions to make this campaign further effective as the performance of police stations in-charges would be further reviewed soon in this regard.
He said that no one is above the law and arrest of those being at large after their involvement in crime of heinous nature should be ensured for the safety to the lives and property of the citizens. He warned the police officials that sluggish attitude in this regard would not be tolerated. The IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat vowed to continue efforts for effective policing and make police department service-oriented in real manner.
