ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who met with Ashfaq Parvez Kayani in Rawalpindi on Sunday, applauded outgoing army chief’s services towards defence and national security.
According to sources, a host of issues, including national security and government’s plans to engage the Taliban in peace talks, came under discussion during the meeting. Nisar Khan said former army chief Kayani had set good traditions during his military service, commending his role towards strengthening democracy in the country.
In a statement, Ch Nisar said Kayani had given a new dimension to the civil-military relations. He set a new chapter of advocating the cause of democracy in these relations.
The minister met former Army chief in the Army House and congratulated him on successfully completing his tenure.
