ICT turns den for criminals

ISLAMABAD - Despite the establishment of police check-posts and mobile parties in the Federal Capital, it was quite difficult to say that these check-posts had proved lethal for the criminals and had saved the Capital from such elements involved in car/bike-snatching, kidnapping, murders and some other street crimes. Gangs involved in car/bike-snatching and jacking kept busy in their activities throughout the last week and had succeeded in steeling 10 vehicles from the seven police station jurisdictions out of 14 police stations working in the Capital. Sabzi Mandi Police Station, Shalimar Police Station, Kohsar Police Station, Sihala Police Station, Margallah Police Station, Aabpara Police Station and Industrial Area Police Station were remained the sanctuary for car-lifters. It was quite astonishing to know that some of these car-lifters were so satisfied and had no danger of arrest in the jurisdiction of Capital Police. During the last week it was informed that the National Highway and Motorway police had recovered two vehicles stolen from the Capital. Where efforts of Motorway Police to recover these vehicles were really appreciating, there also arose a question regarding those check-posts and police officers deputed on those check posts that how the lifters crossed the check-posts of the Capital Police and why police mobiles of ICT Police could not chase those snatchers? Meanwhile, robbers, who also enjoy the reluctant behaviour of the Capital Police, kept looting the houses as three houses were looted in the jurisdiction of Shalimar and Shahzad Town police stations. Criminal activities did not stop at car-lifting and robberies but these also reached to kidnapping and murders. According to details, two female were kidnapped from two different police station jurisdictions namely Koral Police Station and Kohsar Police Station while two bodies were also found from the jurisdictions of Kohsar and Margallah police stations. Both were apparently murdered from some unidentified killers.    On the other hand, Islamabad Capital Territory Administration and Islamabad Capital Police kept claiming the foolproof security arrangements during the Urs of Hazrat Bari Imam by establishing check-posts and continuous patrolling but could not save the devotees from pocket pickers and beggars who kept busy in looting devotees came from different parts of the country. Commenting on the situation, a citizen said he had been visiting a police station for four-days for registering a case regarding his vehicle stolen from I-8 sector. "I keep visiting the police station to register FIR but police officials always neglects me as they have nothing to do with FIR and whenever I make a calls to police, they ask me to come tomorrow. In such situation who will go to police station for registering their complaints", he questioned.
