ISLAMABAD - A local court has summoned former military ruler Pervez Musharraf to appear before the court on March 15 in Ghazi Abdul Rashid and his mother Sahiba Khatoon murder case.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Wajid Ali resumed the hearing of Ghazi Abdul Rashid murder case on Saturday. During the proceedings, Akhtar Shah Advocate appeared and informed the court that he could not prepare the case properly since he fell ill after the last hearing when he had submitted his power of attorney to represent Pervez Musharraf in the case. Therefore, he requested the court to defer the hearing for some time so that he could represent his client in a better way.
During the hearing, a petition on behalf of Pervez Musharraf was also filed by his counsel seeking exemption for Musharraf from appearance.
Plaintiff's lawyer Tariq Asad Advocate raising objections on the petition said that the law applies to everyone equally and Musharraf is feigning sickness while his medical report has also not been submitted in the court. He, therefore, demanded that the bail of the nominated accused should be terminated, warrant of his arrest be issued and summoned to the court.
However, the court admitted the plea and exempted Musharraf from hearing for one day while the judge also summoned him to appear to appear before it on March 15.
