ISLAMABAD – Prices of winter clothes including, jackets and blankets are registering upward trends in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi as the winter season has set in with the demand for the items shooting rapidly.
All kinds of wears and accessories including gloves, woolen hats, mufflers, pullovers, sweater shirts and jackets can be seen displayed in front of shops and booths of weekly bazaars, attracting the customers. “The poor people get warm clothes from launda bazaars or secondhand clothes markets at much cheaper prices,” said Asmat Shah a shopper at Faizabad launda bazaar.
Stall of winter clothes and sales points of shoes can be witnessed at different shopping malls and markets of the twin cities. Piles of second hand quilts, blankets and rugs are up for sale here in the weekly markets with crowds of people, both poor and rich can be seen bargaining with retailers in markets and weekly bazaars where heaps of quilts, bedcovers, blankets and rugs are displayed for sale.
A shopkeeper Muhammad Nasir said: “we have no other option but to sell clothes on high rates as we also have bought them on high prices.” Vendors and dealers are doing brisk business as their clothes are selling like hot cakes. “Prices of new winter wears are out of our reach. We, therefore, rush to secondhand clothes stalls, because that is where we can get quality clothes at affordable rates,” said a shopper at H-9 weekly bazaar.
