RAWALPINDI- The administrations of the allied hospitals of Rawalpindi, focusing on the sanitation and hygiene of the hospitals, have asked private contractors to hold a trail survey to purge the hospitals from vermin.
According to sources, the district administration has also directed the allied hospitals administrations to recruit sanitary workers on vacant positions.
After the attack of mice on newly-born child, the allied hospitals administrations concentrated on getting rid of the mice, cats, dogs, cockroach and lizards. They initiated the operation in the three hospitals in this regard.
Before handing over the contract, the allied hospitals administration launched a trail survey from private contractors. The hospitals administrations and the contractors discussed the safety measures to purge the hospitals of the vermin. The medical superintendents of Benazir Bhutto Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital and Holy Family Hospital visited different wards of the hospitals and checked the cleanliness of the wards.
Online adds: The flux of rats and cats in public hospitals of twin cities has not been brought under control, despite all the notorious publicity, the issue generated over vermin attack on newborns.
While wily rats keep a low profile, waiting for ambush in their ground holes for the opportune moment, the cats are still being observed roaming the Holy Family hospitals with relative ease. 
Meanwhile administration at Benazir Bhutto hospital claim to have disposed of 30 stray cats outside the city limits, at Rawat. The administration of DHQ hospital claim that rats had already gone underground in their premises, hence there was no need to worry.
