SC issues stay order in Reko Diq case

Supreme Court has issued a stay order against leasing of the Reko Diq reserves located in Balochsitsn to any foreign company. A four member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing the case. During the hearing, Barrister Zafarullah contended that awarding of public property to a foreign company is tantamount to conspiracy against the country. Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday maintained, We cant pass the buck to others, these are our own mistakes and weaknesses. The restrained the Balochistan government from issuing licenses to any company till final verdict on the case. The court however granted permission to a foreign company CTT for applying for mining lease. The case was adjourned till February 08.
