Abdul Basit arrives in New Delhi


 
ISLAMABAD  - Abdul Basit, High Commissioner-designate of Pakistan to India arrived in New Delhi on Sunday. Abdul Basit was born in 1958 and holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations.
He joint the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1982. During his distinguished diplomatic career, he held important assignments at Pakistan Missions abroad: Moscow (1985 - 1988), New York (1991 - 1994), Sana’a (1994-1997), Geneva (2001-2003) and London (September 2003 to August 2008), Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany since 2012. He served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Headquarters) as Section Officer (1983 -1988 and 1991), Director (1997 - 2001), Director General (2008 - 2009), Spokesman (2009 - 2010), Additional Secretary (Europe) 2009 - 2012.
On his arrival, he was warmly received at the airport by a representative of the Ministry of External Affairs, Deputy High Commissioner Mansoor A Khan and officers of the Pakistan High Commission, said a statement issued here.
