ISLAMABAD - During the last one month, the Federal Capital Police arrested 790 accused and recovered stolen property of worth Rs 7,658,300, including two snatched cars, seven tampered cars, 25 mobile phones and household items, Police official stated during monthly crime meeting. The meeting was held to review the performance of circle police relating to high profile cases, pending references, arrest of proclaimed offenders, court absconders, and military deserters. Acting SSP Dr. Moeen Masood chaired the meeting while SP (East), Kamran Adil, all SDPOs, SHOs and in charge of CIA/ACLC were also present on the occasion. According to details, challans of 238 cases were submitted in the courts, including 20 rectified challans, 43 applications were also resolved under the Public Conciliatory Committees and recovered disputed money amounting Rs 1.026,500 during the period. Forty-nine cases pertaining to arms and ammunitions were also registered, wherein 33 pistols, two, 12 bore guns, nine rifles and 276 live cartridges were recovered. In addition, 56 cases of narcotics were registered and 8.565 kg hashish and 5,523 bottles of liquor, 500g opium and 14.910kg heroin were recovered. It was informed that 60 security guards were deployed in the markets and 60 security alarms were installed under the Safe Home Scheme, 60 CCTV camera were also installed. Similarly, he said tracking system was installed in 40 vehicles to check car-lifting cases. Three accused were preceded under section 182 PPC. City Police had also arrested 212 suspicious persons under section 55/109 CrPC during this month. Acting SSP Dr Moeen Masood had directed all SDPOs and SHOs to further improve their performance and take effective measures to control crime in their respective areas. He directed that tracking system should be installed in the vehicles for timely detection of car tracking and arrest of the accused. The complaints lodged by the citizens should be attended and addressed immediately and due process of law should be insured in all such cases. Special briefing should be arranged for the police officials deployed at the barricades to check the exit and entry points effectively. The owners of vehicles should be briefed for installation of tracking system in their vehicles to check the car-lifting crimes. He directed that public confidence should be restored. Moreover, Safe Home Scheme should be made more effective to ensure the protection of life and property of the citizens, he directed.
