CLF pulls thousands to interactive sessions

ISLAMABAD - Thousands of children came up to the 14th annual Children Literature Festival (CLF) started here on Friday while a large number of renowned writers, authors, poets and creative artists marked their presence by featuring their skills and craftsmanship in different interactive and packed sessions.
Addressing the inaugural session European Union's Acting Ambassador to Pakistan Pierre Mayaudon termed the commencement of literature festival a great achievement and said that such activities would definitely generate positivity amongst youth especially of middle ages.
He further said that literature portrayed the true face of any society. On this occasion while talking about literature's importance, renowned writer and playwright Haseena Moin termed literature's preservation as need of the hour. She emphasised that children should get more attached with literary activities for their better growth according to the norms and values of their society and religion.
Idara-e-Taleem-0-Aagahi along with Oxford University Press is organising the festival at Federal College of Education, H-9.
Ameena Saiyid, MD Oxford University Press and co-founder CLF, said, "At CLF we have launched over 20 Oxford books that create awareness in children about caring for the environment, respecting each other's customs and traditions and taking pride in our history and heritage."
On the first day of 14th Children Literature Festival, many interactive sessions were held including a puppet show by well-known actor and creative artist Farooq Qaiser, which was widely applauded by the audience and children showed their great interest in his performance.
Haseena Moin launched the 1st book by CLF 'Layla aur munni guriya' by Rumana Hussain and shared her precious thoughts with the children and teachers who attended the session in a large number.
To raise the awareness regarding peace and its importance, a special session named 'Storytelling for Peace' was organised by Chintan Girish Modi and Rumana Hussain.
A children history of Balochistan by Hamida Khuhro was launched in a session in which Zobaida Jalal, former federal minister of education, and Ameena Saiyid shed light on the topic.
